Round 2 of the 2026 Canadian Supermoto Championship took the Ontario paddock east to Circuit Mécaglisse, and it is an experience that every racer needs to have.
Tucked away in the Laurentian Mountains of Quebec, Mécaglisse feels less like a local Canadian track and more like a purpose-built European facility dropped into the woods.
For the Supermoto Québec (SMQ) and CSM riders, this track is the holy grail. The asphalt is incredibly grippy, the elevation changes are dramatic, and the dirt sections are relentless. You are constantly transitioning from high-speed sweeps to aggressive, rutted jumps.
But it’s not just the track layout that makes racing in Quebec special—it’s the atmosphere. The motorsport culture in Quebec is intense. The fans are loud, the local riders like Nelson Jr. Moreau are ridiculously fast, and the paddock energy is electric.
The mid-June X-Fight weekend at Mécaglisse was a massive test for the Ontario riders crossing the border. You have to adapt quickly to the elevation and the aggressive riding style of the local heroes.
As a Race Dad, the road trip to Mécaglisse is long, but completely worth it. Surviving the black flies in the paddock, watching the kids battle it out on a world-class circuit, and finding a local diner for a massive plate of post-race poutine makes it one of the best weekends on the calendar.
