For a few years, the supermoto scene in Ontario felt a bit like a secret club. If you knew where to look, you could find guys sliding dirt bikes on slick tires around local kart tracks, but the organized, high-level competition was fragmented.
That changed with the 2026 revival of the Canadian Supermoto Championship (CSM).
This year, a unified 6-round series bridged the gap between Supermoto Ontario (SMO) and Supermoto Québec (SMQ), and the result has been spectacular. The grids are packed, the competition is fierce, and the sport feels alive again.
Supermoto is the ultimate crossover discipline. It takes the high-speed precision and knee-dragging of road racing and violently mixes it with the jumps, berms, and controlled slides of motocross. Watching a rider back a 450cc machine into a tight asphalt corner, rear wheel smoking, before launching over a dirt tabletop is one of the best spectacles in motorsports.
For the minimoto kids, supermoto offers an incredible cross-training opportunity. It teaches bike control at the absolute limit of traction.
With rounds hosted at Shannonville and the legendary Circuit Mécaglisse in Quebec, the 2026 calendar brought the noise back to the paddock. Seeing the Ontario and Quebec riders clash on the track has elevated the pace for everyone.
